Tyanna Jacot 3-peats, Ivan Sablan repeats at Guam Amateur Golf Championship

In a tournament that spanned two weekends and played on three challenging golf courses – Finest Guam Golf & Resort, Onward Talofofo Golf Club and Country Club of the Pacific – 15-year-old Tyanna Jacot and 20-year-old Ivan Sablan won the 2024 Guam Amateur Golf Championship Sunday at CCP in Ipan, Talo’fo’fo’.

Headed into the final round, Jacot held a six-stroke lead over junior sensation Mina Manibusan and veteran Rose Tarpley. But after 18 holes of competitive golf, Jacot had delivered an unparalleled performance and won the women’s division by 13 strokes (76, 74, 74, 224). As Jacot posted a respectable two-over-par, her second such accomplishment in as many days, Manibusan (77, 79, 81, 237) and Tarpley (81, 75, 81, 237) faltered, each shooting nine-over-par and finishing 13 strokes behind Jacot.

“I’m really happy with the outcome,” Jacot said. “I am, to be honest, a little disappointed. I feel like I’ve been working really hard lately, and I really wanted to shoot under par total. But, I mean, the outcome is good. I can’t be mad about it, but I feel like I could do better.”
