Guam golf team will complete in Malaysia

Guam’s National Men’s Golf Team will be competing in the 2017 MPI Generali Saujana Amateur Golf Championship in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on May 23-25, 2017. This prestigious international golf event will be conducted at the famous Palm Golf Course at the Saujana Golf and Country Club. This course is rated as one of the most challenging golf courses in Malaysia.

Representing Guam will be veteran golfers Vic Borja, Daryl Poe, Robert Manalo and Hiro Kubo. They were selected based on the Guam National Golf Team Standings following the recent three (3) day team tryout. They will be competing against the top amateur golfers in Asia.

The tournament will include both individual and team competitions. Team competition standings will be based on two man total score. Borja and Poe will make up one of Guam’s two teams. Kubo and Manalo will make up the other team.

The GNGF’s membership in the United States Golf Association, Royal & Ancient, and Asia Pacific Golf Association provides Guam’s best amateur golfers the opportunity to compete in top international golf events. The GNGF conducts monthly team tryouts to determine team standings and who will represent Guam in off island tournaments. The Guam team is open to all Guam Amateur golfers regardless of age.
